Andy Wu is a Hong Kong-born keyboardist, independent musician, and producer with a background in classical piano. Currently based in Japan, he is studying jazz piano at the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music. His musical style is deeply influenced by a diverse range of genres including Swing Jazz, Funk, and R&B, while he continuously explores the roots of jazz to master the essence and language of swing. Wu has been an active participant in various jazz ensembles, such as Laborious Hardbop and the Timothy Wan Quartet. He is also a regular presence in the Tokyo jazz club scene and session culture, drawing inspiration from the energy of live improvisation and interaction. In his performances, such as his tribute to Bill Evans, Wu returns to his jazz origins. He views Evans' music not just as a style, but as a philosophy of listening, space, and musical dialogue. By balancing tribute with personal expression, he aims to share a genuine, present-moment jazz experience. Wu approaches his craft with a spirit of 'Isshou Kenmei' (devoting one's life) and 'Ichi-go ichi-e' (once-in-a-lifetime encounter), treating every performance and audience member with profound dedication.
