Scott Murphy is an award-winning Scottish saxophonist and composer now based in Hong Kong. A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of Tommy Smith, he has performed with jazz icons like Randy Brecker and Bill Evans. Known for his emotive playing and pursuit of fresh sounds, Murphy balances a prolific performing career with his role as a woodwind specialist, recently releasing the acclaimed album "a dream of form."

Scott Murphy is an award-winning saxophonist, composer, and bandleader from Scotland, currently based in Hong Kong. He is recognized for his pursuit of fresh sounds and emotional connection with audiences, establishing an artistic presence with a globally recognized reach. Murphy received an education of exceeding quality at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) under the tutelage of Scottish saxophone icon Prof. Tommy Smith, as well as Julian Arguelles, Paul Towndrow, and Konrad Wiszniewski. During his studies, he served as the lead tenor saxophonist for the internationally acclaimed Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra (TSYJO). His career highlights include performing with world-renowned musicians such as Randy Brecker, Arild Andersen, and Bill Evans, as well as prominent UK artists including Alyn Cosker, Jacqui Dankworth, and Steve Hamilton. As an educator, Murphy has served as an instrumental tutor for the BBC Big Band at the Lockerbie Jazz Festival, a specialist jazz tutor for the SYJO for East Renfrewshire and Renfrewshire Councils, and an International Educator at the Art Jazz Cooperative Festival in Ukraine. Currently, he serves as the woodwind specialist at Harrow International School in Hong Kong. His recent work includes the album "a dream of form" and performances at venues such as Fountain de Chopin.
