Roy Patterson

Canadian guitarist Roy Patterson is celebrated for his personal, evocative style, drawing comparisons to revered North American jazz guitarists. Born in Nova Scotia, Patterson honed his craft at York and McGill Universities, releasing his first recording in 1989. His quartet famously won the coveted Prix de Jazz at Montreal's Festival International de Jazz in 1996, marking the first time a Toronto-based band achieved this honor. His acclaimed discography includes the 1997 release, "Inland Passages." Patterson's international career has taken him to Finland, Istanbul, Italy, and the U.S., where he performed with luminaries like John Faddis and Akira Tana.
