NYC-based guitarist and composer Sebastian Noelle is acclaimed for blending abstract complexity with emotional depth. Since 2002, he has been a cornerstone of the scene, notably as a twenty-year member of Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society. His music draws from diverse influences, including North Indian rhythms and German literature. With four leader albums on Fresh Sound New Talent and collaborations with masters like Chris Potter, Noelle continues to push jazz boundaries with lyrical delicacy and rock-like energy.

Guitarist and composer Sebastian Noelle has established himself in the New York and international jazz scenes with a unique style that effortlessly navigates the boundaries between the "abstract" and the "emotional." His album "Shelter" was recognized by The New York Times as a "noteworthy" release, while acclaimed critic Nate Chinen praised his work for its "lyrical delicacy and rock-like energy." Noelle's music reflects his broad interests, blending diverse elements ranging from documentaries and German literature to deep studies of North Indian rhythms. Since arriving in New York in 2002, he has built an impressive resume, including a twenty-year tenure as a member of Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society (contributing to four Grammy-nominated recordings). He has shared the stage with masters such as Chris Potter, Ingrid Jensen, Donny McCaslin, Vijay Iyer, and Dan Weiss. He is a frequent performer at iconic New York venues like the Blue Note, Jazz Standard, and Jazz Gallery, and has appeared at major international festivals including Newport, North Sea, and Montreux, with tours spanning the US, Europe, Canada, Brazil, and Japan. To date, he has released four leader albums on the prestigious European label Fresh Sound New Talent and serves as an adjunct professor at Hunter College (CUNY).
