Hsu Tzu-wei is an accomplished Ruan and Liuqin virtuoso known for bridging traditional Chinese music with contemporary styles. After a distinguished tenure with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra (2019–2024), she joined the Kaohsiung City Chinese Orchestra in 2025. A versatile performer, Hsu has gained acclaim for her crossover collaborations, notably with the Hong Kong jazz group Midnight Ensemble. Her artistry seamlessly blends technical precision with a modern, improvisational spirit.
Hsu Tzu-wei is an accomplished musician specializing in traditional Chinese plucked-string instruments. From 2019 to 2024, she served as a Ruan musician with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, touring extensively across Asia, Europe, and Australia. Starting in 2025, she joined the Kaohsiung City Chinese Orchestra as a Liuqin performer. In recent years, she has been actively exploring and promoting crossover music performances. Her notable performance history includes the "Liuqin Sentiment" solo recital at the Kaohsiung Music Hall in 2019 as part of the Contemporary Art Forest Ensemble's Young Artist Series. That same year, she was invited as a soloist for the Liuqin concerto "Mountain Song and Rondo" during the Tainan Chinese Orchestra's annual concert "Taijiang Tone Painting." In 2023, she performed as a guest musician with the Hong Kong jazz group Midnight Ensemble at the Hong Kong International Airport and the West Kowloon Cultural District. In 2024, she served as both a Ruan soloist and host for the "Strings and Ruan Filling the Sky" ethnic music exchange event in Shenzhen.
