Taipei-born violinist Lin Shaoyuan transitioned from classical roots to jazz after discovering Duke Ellington in high school. A former president of the NTU Jazz Club and student of Huang Wei-Chun, she is a versatile performer known for her work with the String Quartet and Dark Eyes Gypsy Jazz Band. Having graced stages like the National Concert Hall and Taipei Jazz Festival, Lin brings a refined yet passionate voice to the jazz violin community.
Taipei-born violinist Lin Shaoyuan began her musical journey with classical violin at age six. Her path took a pivotal turn in high school, discovering jazz through a Duke Ellington big band video, an encounter that sparked an enduring passion. Shaoyuan further honed her craft under the tutelage of Huang Wei-Chun and notably served as president of the NTU Jazz Club. Her versatile artistry is showcased through her involvement in diverse ensembles, including the String Quartet (玩弦四度), NTU Commotion Jazz Orchestra, Dark Eyes Gypsy Jazz Band, and Hot Club de Takao. She has performed at significant venues such as the Taipei Jazz Festival, NTU Music Festival, and the National Concert Hall, establishing herself as a dedicated voice in the jazz community.
