Cheng-Yu Lee is a distinguished Taiwanese saxophonist, conductor, and jazz educator. After transitioning from civil engineering to music, he earned his Master’s from the University of North Texas. As the music director of the Taipei Jazz Orchestra, Lee has collaborated with global icons like Eric Marienthal. Currently a faculty member at several top universities, he is a pivotal figure in Asian jazz, specializing in performance, theory, and big band conducting.

Cheng-Yu Lee (also known as Cheng-Yu Jimmy Lee) is a prominent Taiwanese saxophonist, conductor, and jazz educator. His academic journey began with a degree from the Department of Civil Engineering at National Taiwan University, followed by advanced musical studies in the United States. In 2001, he earned a Performance Diploma from Bowling Green State University, and subsequently obtained a Master’s degree in Saxophone Performance from the University of North Texas, where he also specialized in jazz studies. Currently, Mr. Lee serves as a faculty member at the National Taipei University of Education, Fu Jen Catholic University, and the Graduate Institute of Pop Music at National Taiwan Normal University. He is the conductor and music director of the Taipei Jazz Orchestra, having collaborated with world-renowned artists such as Eric Marienthal. His expertise spans classical and jazz saxophone performance, jazz theory, arranging, and big band conducting. He is actively involved in promoting saxophone performance and jazz education across Asia and internationally.
