Hung Shao-Huan is a pioneering jazz musician and the first to enter the Royal Conservatory of Brussels' jazz department with the Sheng, a traditional Chinese mouth organ. Blending ancient timbres with contemporary jazz, free improvisation, and electronic music, Hung has developed a unique sonic identity. With an international career spanning Europe, Asia, and the Americas, he continues to push the boundaries of traditional instrumentation within the modern jazz landscape.

Hung Shao-Huan is a pioneering jazz musician who holds both a Master’s degree and a Post-Master’s Research degree in Jazz Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Specializing in the Sheng, a traditional Chinese mouth organ, he studied under the guidance of Diederik Wissels, Jeroen Van Herzeele, and Thibault Dille. In 2016, he made history as the first student to be admitted to the jazz department of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels using a traditional Chinese instrument. A graduate of the Department of Chinese Music at the National Tainan University of the Arts, Hung is a prominent figure in the Taiwanese music scene with an international presence that spans the United States, China, Indonesia, Canada, Australia, Latin America, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, and France. His musical versatility extends beyond jazz to include free improvisation, physical performance, electronic music, and composition. By integrating the unique timbre of one of China’s oldest instruments into contemporary contexts, Hung Shao-Huan has developed a distinctive and innovative musical identity.
