Cai Weijing is a distinguished accordionist and educator with a Master’s from NTNU. Having studied in Europe under masters like Richard Galliano, his versatile artistry spans jazz, tango, and classical music. A career highlight includes performing the world premiere of Joe Hisaishi’s "The Wind Rises" Suite No. 2. Beyond the stage, Cai is a dedicated producer and educator, enriching the music scene with his sophisticated arrangements and soulful performances.
Cai Weijing is a distinguished accordionist and keyboardist from Taiwan who holds a Master's degree from the Graduate Institute of Music at National Taiwan Normal University. In 2011, he traveled to Austria for exchange studies and subsequently pursued advanced musical training in Italy, France, and various European countries. During this period, he attended masterclasses with world-renowned accordion masters including Frank Marocco (USA), Richard Galliano (France), and Klaus Paier (Austria). His international performance career spans prestigious venues such as the Astra Theater in Castelfidardo, Italy; St. John's Church in Tulle, France; and the Karuizawa Ohga Hall in Nagano, Japan. A landmark moment in his career occurred in 2014 at the Taipei National Concert Hall, where he served as the accordionist for the world premiere of Joe Hisaishi's "The Wind Rises" Suite No. 2, conducted by the composer himself. Beyond performing, Cai is deeply committed to music education and promotion, contributing accordion arrangements, recordings, and production to numerous albums across genres including classical, jazz, chanson, tango, and world music. His production credits include "Accordion Capriccio," "Kite Band," "Happy Days in Taiwan," "Vincent's Room," "Taipei Chanson," "Portraits of Taiwan Accordionists," and "Tekapo's Starry Sky." He frequently collaborates with violinist Lin Shao-yuan, a Taipei native who began her classical training at age six before discovering a passion for jazz through Duke Ellington. Lin, a former president of the NTU Jazz Society, has performed with groups such as Resonating Strings, NTU Riot Jazz Orchestra, Dark Eyes Gypsy Jazz Band, and Hot Club de Takao, appearing at the Taipei Jazz Festival and the National Concert Hall.
