Michael Wang is a trombonist, composer, and arranger who has established himself as a versatile talent in the international jazz scene. Originally from Sacramento, California, Wang began his trombone studies at the age of eleven. His early excellence led to his selection as a drummer for the SFJAZZ High School All-Stars, one of the most prestigious youth music programs in the Bay Area. He later moved to New York City to attend the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied jazz percussion under the tutelage of Kendrick Scott. As a recording artist, he released his debut album, "Bone of the Wang Vol. 1," which features original compositions such as "Flowers at a Funeral," "Dream of Flying," and "Groove Wang." Currently based in Taiwan and also known by his Chinese name Wang Yu-Wei (王于維), he is an active contributor to the local jazz community. He frequently performs at professional venues including Sappho Live Jazz and has three recorded events in the JazzNode database.
