王群婷 Refa Wang

Refa Wang is a versatile double bassist, electric bassist, and composer with a solid foundation in classical music, dedicated to jazz and crossover performances. In 2013, she was invited to participate in the first classical and Hip-Hop crossover performance, "Swing Your Neck," with the Taiwanese hip-hop group MJ116. She was selected as the Best Bassist at the NTCH Jazz Summer Camp in 2014 and served as an instructor for the NTCH Jazz Workshop the following year. Since 2013, she has been a member of the music production team for the British fashion brand APUJAN, performing at London Fashion Week. In 2018, she earned her Master of Performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Her accolades include winning third place in the 2019 Taichung Jazz Festival New Talent Competition. That same year, she was invited to serve as the double bassist for 9m88's "Beyond Mediocrity" album release tour. In addition to her work as a session musician and recording artist, she is a member of the bands Cavey, Happy Beigel Klezmer Orkester, Let’s Play, and Liquid Voice. Refa has performed at numerous international festivals, including the MONDOMiX Festival, Isle of Wight Festival, Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival, The Royal Wedding Bells Of Windsor Festival, Fete Quaqua Festival, Spitalfields Music Festival, Live Green Festival, SXSW, and the Taichung Jazz Festival. Recently, she has expanded her role from a sought-after sideman to a bandleader, debuting the Refa Wang Quartet to showcase contemporary works and original compositions.
