Taipei-based violinist Ann VioLin transitioned from a classical background to jazz after discovering the Duke Ellington Orchestra. A former president of the NTU Jazz Club and student of Huang Wei-chun, she has become a versatile performer in ensembles like the Interstring Quartet and Dark Eyes Gypsy Jazz Band. From the National Concert Hall to the Taipei Jazz Festival, Ann brings a sophisticated, improvisational spirit to the violin, bridging classical precision with jazz's expressive freedom.
Ann VioLin is a Taipei-based violinist who began her musical journey with a foundation in classical violin from a young age. Her path shifted toward jazz during her final year of high school after being inspired by a video of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, a discovery that led to a lifelong dedication to the genre. She studied under violinist Huang Wei-chun and served as the president of the NTU Jazz Club. Ann VioLin has been an active member of several ensembles, including the Interstring Quartet, the NTU Riot Jazz Orchestra, the Dark Eyes Gypsy Jazz Band, and Hot Club de Takao. Her performance history includes appearances at the Taipei Jazz Festival, the NTU Music Festival, and the National Concert Hall, as well as venues like WiJazz Records.
