Kafuu Chu
Based in Kaohsiung, jazz pianist Kafuu Chu began his journey as a self-taught musician inspired by ACG music before formalizing his training at National Dong Hwa University. His versatile style blends Jazz, Funk, R&B, and Fusion. A frequent performer at the Taipei and Taichung Jazz Festivals, Chu has collaborated with diverse artists and recently produced his original composition 'Sanctuary.' He remains a dynamic presence in the scene, known for his cross-genre creativity.
Hailing from Kaohsiung, Kafuu Chu is a jazz pianist who graduated from the Jazz Division of the Department of Music at National Dong Hwa University. During his studies, he was mentored by Wu Yu-chen, Chan Tsung-lin, Matthew Fullen, and Hsu Tsung-yi. Originally a self-taught pianist driven by a passion for ACG music, Chu expanded his musical horizon during high school to include Jazz, Funk, R&B, Soul, Gospel, Fusion, and Classical music. Beyond his deep roots in the jazz scene where he has collaborated with numerous renowned musicians, he also bridges the gap into pop and indie music, performing with artists such as Mian Guo Zi and Koana. His performance credits include major events such as the Taipei Jazz Festival, Taichung Jazz Festival, Blowing Sea Breeze Music Festival, Chiayi Coffee Festival, East District Jazz Music Festival, Jazz Spring, and the Hualien Pacific Tourism Festival New Year's Eve Concert. Currently active across various performance venues, Chu was recently invited by the Soft-World Music Multimedia Center to produce and record his original composition 'Sanctuary.'
