Song Yixiu is a distinguished jazz pianist and composer renowned for his sophisticated blend of jazz improvisation with classical compositional techniques. He began his professional journey in 2016 by studying jazz piano at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels under the guidance of Diederik Wissels and Nathalie Lorier. In 2021, he expanded his expertise into composition under Michelino Bisceglia, where he focused on the integration of pure classical instrumental writing—specifically string quartets—within the jazz idiom. His notable creative achievements include the completion of a short concerto for double bass and an arrangement of "Desafinado" that was performed by the Royal Netherlands Navy Wind Orchestra. Returning to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in late 2024, he has become a vital participant in the local jazz scene, currently serving as the pianist for the Wijazz Singers. He frequently collaborates with bassist Liu Da-ren, a graduate of National Dong Hwa University who has performed with Eric Miyashiro and Huang Rui-feng, and drummer Ye Ting-jun, a Golden Indie Music Award nominee with extensive international experience at festivals such as Focus Wales and Primavera Pro.
