The Samuel Blaser Quartet is a distinguished jazz ensemble led by Swiss-born trombonist Samuel Blaser. During his formative years, Blaser forged powerful connections with the Vienna Art Orchestra and the European Radio Big Band, eventually earning a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue graduate studies at the Purchase College Conservatory of Music in New York. After relocating to New York—a city he describes as the vital heart of jazz—he formed a quartet of the highest quality featuring Russ Lossing, Masa Kamaguchi, and Gerry Hemingway. This ensemble is noted for its ability to interpret Blaser’s compositions and arrangements with a precision that feels custom-tailored to his vision. The quartet's debut album, "7th Heaven" (released on Between The Lines), marked the beginning of Blaser's journey as a leader. His subsequent work has received significant critical acclaim; the album "Boundless" was voted the best album of 2011 by Jazz Magazine, New York Jazz City Record, Maitre Chronique, Sun Ship, and Boleuzia.
