A versatile fixture in the Hong Kong music scene for over a decade, Ricky Wong is an accomplished arranger and composer spanning pop, jazz, and classical genres. In 2025, he returns to his jazz roots with his debut solo album, 'Silent Invitation'. Reunited with long-time collaborators Justin Siu and Dean Li, Ricky brings a renewed passion to jazz classics and debuts his original piano trio compositions, offering an intimate and profound musical experience.

Ricky Wong is a versatile Hong Kong-based pianist, keyboardist, self-taught composer, and educator who has been a prominent figure in the local music scene for over a decade. His musical footprint spans pop, jazz, independent music, and classical composition. He began piano lessons at the age of seven and later studied under renowned Hong Kong musicians Ted Lo and Tony Carpio, as well as Universal Classics & Jazz recording artists. Wong is widely recognized for his work as an arranger and session musician, frequently appearing in major live concerts. His notable arranging credits include Vincy Chan's 'Drowning' (沉溺), Kendy Suen's 'Namonaki Monogatari' (Piano Version), and Curley G's 'Before the Next Life' (來生之前). He also composed original piano trio works for guitarist Alan Kwan's 'Jazz Composers’ Lab,' including 'Piano Trio with Viola and Cello No.1.' His diverse talents have earned him accolades such as the Gold award for Best Original Music in the Hong Kong Student’s Short Film Competition. He is also accomplished in film scoring, improvisation, and piano accompaniment. In 2025, Wong reignited his deep passion for jazz and the piano trio format, which he describes as his musical roots. This culminated in the preparation of his debut solo album, 'Silent Invitation,' recorded in collaboration with double bassist Satsuki Kusui and drummer Yuto Maseki. The album features eleven original compositions, including two tracks featuring Alan Kwan. For his live performances, he often reunites with long-time friends Justin Siu (double bass) and Dean Li (drums) to bring renewed passion to jazz classics and present his original works for the first time, offering an intimate and profound jazz experience.
