Hsu Hsun Shun is a dynamic bassist and Berklee College of Music alumnus, known for his sophisticated musicality and deep understanding of rhythm. He has performed at notable venues like Blue Note Taipei with various ensembles.
Hsu Hsun Shun is a dedicated jazz bassist who began his musical journey during his university years. After graduating, he pursued further studies at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, earning a Diploma in Performance Major in 2016. During his time at Berklee, he honed his craft under the tutelage of esteemed faculty members including John Baboian, Jon Hazilla, Ken Cervenka, and Jason Palmer. Upon graduation, he led his own quintet in performances at venues such as Red Room 939 and the David Friend Recital Hall. In 2017, while residing in New York, he participated in the 'Music in New York' series and collaborated with Golden Melody Award-winning Hakka singer Hsieh Yu-wei for the 'Stranger's Mood' concert. Since returning to Taiwan in 2018, Hsu has been an active educator and performer, serving as an instructor for the Sizhukong training program. He frequently performs at venues like Blue Note Taipei with various ensembles, including the Plus One Trio (alongside Jeffrey Lin and Monique Chao) and the Lin WeiSheng Guitar Trio. Currently, he is committed to promoting jazz appreciation and foundational music education, contributing a sophisticated musicality and a deep understanding of rhythm to Taiwan's vibrant jazz landscape.
