Weichung Lin is a distinguished jazz drummer based in Taiwan, recognized for his dynamic rhythmic approach and refined musicianship. After studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston from 2006 to 2008 under the guidance of master drummers such as Jon Hazilla, John Ramsay, and Jamey Haddad, he returned to Taiwan and became a central figure in the local jazz community. Since 2013, he has been an official endorser for Canopus Drums and Regal Tip drumsticks. Lin’s artistic trajectory has increasingly leaned toward sound experimentation and modern improvisation. Notable projects include his duo with pianist YuYing Hsu focusing on the music of Paul Motian, and an experimental duo with synthesizer player Jay Cheng exploring the interplay between drums and modular synthesizers, including research into quadraphonic and surround sound for live performance. In 2018, he released the duo album "Dailiest Day Possible" with Jay Cheng and collaborated on audio-visual improvisation projects with directors Hsu Cheng-Chieh and Ko Hung-Yu, exploring the boundaries between visuals and live sound. His extensive discography and performance history include the soundtrack for the film "Au Revoir Taipei" (2009), the album "Flow, Gesture, and Spaces" with the group Non-Confined Space (where he blends drum sets with modular synthesizers), and collaborations with artists such as Ying-Da Chen on the albums "Off-Peak" and "Live Without Irony," and the NoMads Factory on the album "Elefant On A Pink Leaflet." He is a regular performer at prestigious venues like Blue Note Taipei and has participated in unique events such as "Swing in the NTU Library."
