劉昱志 Liu Yu Chi

Liu Yu Chi is a professional bassist based in Taipei, specializing in both electric and double bass. His musical journey began in university as a guitarist before he transitioned his focus to the bass and began his deep exploration of jazz. He refined his craft by studying jazz theory with saxophonist Pan Heng-Chien and jazz performance with the acclaimed U.S.-based double bassist Lin Wei-Sheng. Liu Yu Chi has extensive experience performing in various formats, ranging from jazz big bands to small ensembles, and currently performs at various venues across Taipei. He is a regular performer at prominent venues such as Blue Note Taipei, where he has appeared in groups like the Lin Wei-Sheng Guitar Trio. His artistry is characterized by a commitment to foundational rhythms and nuanced melodic lines, reflecting his dedication to the jazz craft.
