Gabriel Hahn

Gabriel Amadeus Hahn is a versatile music artist and performer who bridges the gap between classical and avant-garde, sensibility and rationality. Born and raised in Munich to a French-German family of classical musicians, his musical journey began on the violin and piano before he transitioned to drums at age nine. His musical territory spans a wide spectrum, including jazz, pop, ethnic, sacred, and experimental music. Hahn possesses an impressive international resume; since 2009, he has been a member of the legendary jazz vocal group The New York Voices, serving as their touring drummer and vocal percussionist across Europe and Asia. Beyond the jazz realm, he has ventured into the pop scene, performing as a backing vocalist and musician for the band Mayday as well as several mainstream German singers. His versatility is showcased on over 20 albums, where he performs as a drummer, percussionist, vocalist, and body percussionist. In addition to performance, Hahn is dedicated to exploring the connection between the human body and sound. He developed the unique "Musical-Body-Method," popularizing body percussion and rhythm pedagogy. In 2019, he obtained his qualification as a German state-certified senior psychotherapist, bringing greater layers and depth to his musical expression. Currently based in Taipei and Berlin, he serves as the Artistic Director of the Vocal Asia Festival and the Artistic Director of the Quanta Culture and Education Foundation A Cappella Youth Camp. As a drummer, percussionist, composer, beatboxer, and singer, Gabriel Hahn continues to infuse music with infinite possibilities through his exceptional sense of rhythm and cross-cultural vision.
