Ted Lo is a pioneer of Hong Kong jazz and the first Chinese graduate of Berklee College of Music. After performing with legends like Ron Carter and Herbie Hancock in New York, he returned to Hong Kong in 1996, bridging the gap between jazz and pop for icons like Eason Chan. A renowned educator, he now returns with his trio, featuring Nelson Fung and Dean Li, to showcase the refined synergy from their recent China tour.

Ted Lo’s name is synonymous with the living history of jazz in Hong Kong. In 1976, he became the first Chinese student to graduate from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. After moving to New York in the late 1970s, he performed alongside jazz legends such as Astrud Gilberto, Ron Carter, and Herbie Hancock. His career has taken him to legendary venues like Blue Note and the Hollywood Bowl, as well as world-renowned stages including the North Sea, Newport, and Montreux Jazz Festivals. Since returning to Hong Kong in 1996, he has infused the local pop scene with his deep jazz sensibilities, collaborating with icons like Eason Chan, Sandy Lam, and Jacky Cheung, serving as a pivotal bridge between the jazz and pop worlds. A dedicated educator, he has inspired countless musicians over the years. Following an eight-stop China tour in mid-2025, Ted Lo returns to the stage with his trio, featuring Nelson Fung on bass and Dean Li on drums. This performance aims to recreate the musical content of his recent tour, showcasing the high-level synergy and musical sparks developed through their long-standing collaboration.
