Cyryl Lewczuk
Polish saxophonist and composer Cyryl Lewczuk is a rising star in the contemporary jazz scene. After winning the Grand Prix at the prestigious "Jazz Inspiracje" competition, he released his debut album, "Cactus Flower," in 2025. Leading an international quartet featuring guitarist Yang Zheng, bassist Jon Zhang, and drummer Wen Junyi, Lewczuk blends deep-rooted Polish jazz traditions with sophisticated modern sensibilities for a vibrant, world-class performance.
Cyryl Lewczuk is a Polish jazz saxophonist, composer, and bandleader currently serving as the artistic director of the Cyryl Lewczuk Quartet. An award-winning musician with extensive international performance experience, Lewczuk won the Grand Prix at the prestigious Polish jazz competition "Jazz Inspiracje" last year and released his debut album, "Cactus Flower," in 2025. For his upcoming performances, he is joined by a talented ensemble of internationally trained musicians. The quartet features guitarist Yang Zheng, a student of Michael Arlt and Axel Hagen who previously studied at the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy and is currently at the Würzburg State University of Music. On bass is Jon Zhang, a Master's graduate from Codarts Rotterdam who is active in the Dutch jazz scene at venues such as Murphy’s Law and Dizzy. Completing the lineup is drummer Wen Junyi, who began his studies at age six and is currently studying under Professor Bastian Jütte at the Würzburg State University of Music. Together, they bring a vibrant and sophisticated sound rooted in the Polish jazz tradition.
