Josh SchafferSince graduating in December of 2012 with a Master’s in Music from the University of Colorado at Boulder, Josh Schaffer has been working and playing in Taiwan. While studying under Tom Myer (prof. saxophone at the University of Colorado Boulder), he has developed his jazz concepts out of a classical setting and has learned not only the musical nuances involved in classical performance and practice, but also has been able to bring classical and traditional jazz styles together. Josh Schaffer is a versatile saxophonist known for seamlessly blending classical precision with traditional jazz concepts. After earning his Master’s from the University of Colorado at Boulder, he relocated to Taiwan, where he has become a fixture in the local music scene. With a background spanning rock, fusion, and classical performance, Schaffer brings a unique, nuanced perspective to every stage, from Colorado’s vibrant venues to Taipei’s Sappho Live.

Josh Schaffer is a saxophonist who has been working and performing in Taiwan since graduating with a Master’s in Music from the University of Colorado at Boulder in December 2012. While studying under Tom Myer, Professor of Saxophone at CU Boulder, he developed his jazz concepts from a classical foundation, learning the musical nuances involved in classical performance and practice while successfully bringing classical and traditional jazz styles together. Since his graduation, he has performed with a wide array of rock and fusion groups, including those in the Colorado music scene. In Taiwan, he has performed at venues such as Sappho Live.
